Group work and collaborative learning

As we reach the end of the first part of the course, let us pause for a moment and look ahead to what is still to come. In Parts 2 and 3 we’ll look at some of the basics of getting group work right – how to train students to work together and how to plan for progress. Then, in Parts 4 and 5, we’ll examine how the structure of groups can influence the success of collaborative learning. We’ll do this by exploring the impact of group sizes and roles, as well as some of the different ways teachers can choose groups. After that, in Parts 6-8, we’ll turn our attention to activities and techniques you can use to make group work successful and through which you can engage and enthuse your students. Finally, in Part 9, we’ll think a little bit about how you can respond to problems, should they arise, when you are using group work and collaborative learning in your teaching.

The program is particularly suited to school leaders, heads of department and teachers.
