Dr. Chris Coutts is an Education Consultant for Quality House Consultancy. She works with a diversity of education providers to build leadership awareness and capability to improve, raising institutional ranking and stakeholder confidence. Her extensive management and leadership experience add value to improve the quality of learning and teaching through training, coaching and policy development, self-review and preparation for external audit.
A qualified ISO quality auditor and school inspector, Chris has had a major part to play in the establishment of quality assurance systems both at organization and government level. She is currently involved in UAE school review and inspections, as part of education improvement projects for Tribal Middle East. She has also been part of national working groups to establish qualifications frameworks and processes for institutional and programme accreditation in both New Zealand and Bahrain.
Until 2015 Chris was Executive Director Projects and Adviser to the CEO at Bahrain Polytechnic where she had responsibility for a number of strategic projects including the Work Integrated Learning initiative encompassing the Employability Skills and Labour Market Intelligence Research. More recently, these research interests led her to become involved with Tribal Middle East in conducting the research to establish Tamkeen’s Labour Market Observatory (Bahrain’s Employability and Skills Portal), and in contributing to publications to support human resource practitioners and business start-ups.
Previously, Chris was Academic Services Adviser on the Polytechnics’ International New Zealand (PINZ) consultancy team that worked with the Economic Development Board to establish Bahrain Polytechnic as a cornerstone reform project of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030. Prior to that Chris was working in New Zealand in various roles including as a Liaison Officer for the Ministry of Education, as an Executive Director in three polytechnics and as a Secondary School Principal.
