Before we move on, let’s pause and think briefly about what we are going to cover in the rest of the course. Parts 2-5 focus on learning walks, while Parts 6-9 look at work scrutiny. In Parts 2 and 3, we’ll begin by looking at how you can identify the purpose of a learning walk, as well as why this matters, before exploring how you can standardise learning walk protocols. After that, in Part 4, we’ll look at the five phases of learning walks, outlining the structure in more detail. Finally, in Part 5, we’ll explore how you can moderate learning walk judgements. After that, we turn our attention to work scrutiny. Parts 6 and 7 focus on how you can effectively identify the purpose of a work scrutiny and then carry out your plan to good effect. Part 8 examines the kind of evidence you will want to collect while you are doing a work scrutiny, and Part 9 introduces common work scrutiny mistakes and explains how to avoid them.
