Local and global citizenship
As we reach the end of Part 1, we can take a moment or two to look at what comes next. First up, in Part 2, we spend some time exploring how teachers can bring environmental sustainability into the curriculum, a crucial aspect of local and global citizenship. After this, in Part 3, we look at different methods for linking learning to global problems. Then, in Part 4, we examine a wide range of ways teachers can give students opportunities to contribute to the school community, with this focussing our attention on local citizenship. In Part 5, we draw together the themes of local and global citizenship by looking at different strategies teachers can use to widen students’ horizons of what is possible in their future careers, and how they can contribute on a local and global level. Finally, in Part 6, we examine how teachers can use moral dilemmas as a tool for helping students to develop their ethical and moral reasoning.
